National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Chinese Foreign minister Wang Yi held 'meaningful discussions' during the Special Representative Talks on wednesday (18 december 2024) and reached a six-point consensus, which includes taking further steps to maintain peace on the data-borders and promote healthy and stable development of relations.

During the first meeting after a five-year break, both sides praised the agreement made on data-border concerns and reaffirmed that implementation work should go on, according to a news release from the Chinese Foreign Ministry. According to the press release, both officials felt that the data-border dispute should be addressed properly in light of the bilateral relationship's overall state to avoid having an impact on how the relationship develops.
