After spending more than Rs 8 lakh on her culinary channel, Nalini's Kitchen Recipe, over the last three years, YouTuber nalini Unagar has made the difficult choice to stop creating videos. She made the revelation after disclosing that her efforts on YouTube had not resulted in any revenue.
In a series of posts on X, nalini detailed her journey and the challenges she data-faced, stating that she is now selling her kitchen accessories and studio equipment. "I failed in my YouTube career, so I'm selling all my kitchen accessories and studio equipment. If anyone is interested in buying, please let me know," she wrote.
In a follow-up post, nalini shared the financial toll of her venture, confessing, "I have invested approximately Rs 8 lakhs in my YouTube channel for building a kitchen, buying studio equipment, and promotions. The return? Rs 0."
Many readers found her frank posts relatable, which led to a popular conversation on the challenges of becoming successful in the online content market. Fans urged her to keep going, but nalini gave an explanation for her decision to step away. "I made almost 250 videos for YouTube over the course of three years. But because I didn't receive the reaction I was hoping for, I've ultimately made the decision to stop creating videos and have removed all of my work off the site," she said.
Online platforms are unpredictable, as nalini pointed out when she said, "Your 'shop' can shut down before you even wake up the next day."
Her admirers have responded to the news with a mixture of advice and sadness. "I can imagine that's very disheartening," remarked one user. I wish you well in whatever comes next. If you are unable to continue, it is quite OK to move on. Others argued that she ought to have kept her films up on the internet, pointing out that algorithms would eventually favor her.
Nalini has previously garnered media attention. Her public profile was further enhanced last year when she and actor swara bhaskar got into a contentious online spat about vegetarianism and body image.
