The new export policy in qatar, which allows only eggs weighing more than 60 grams to be imported, has affected them a bit. egg prices have reached a peak. Traders are worried about not being able to export abroad. There are more than 1000 poultry farms in the Namakkal region. About 8 crore egg hens are raised on the farms here. 6.50 crore eggs are produced daily. About 4 crore eggs are sent from Namakkal for sale by trucks to various districts in tamil Nadu and kerala every day. 4 crore eggs go to the tamil Nadu government's nutritional food scheme every week. 25 lakh eggs are being sent to foreign countries in containers every day. The NECC (National egg Coordination Committee) is fixing the price of a large egg weighing 52 grams produced on farms in Namakkal every day. The price of eggs has been increasing continuously for the last two weeks. In this situation, on the evening of the 3rd, NECC Regional President Singaraj increased the price of eggs by another 5 paise and fixed the farm purchase price of an egg at ₹5.90.
This is the highest price in the history of Namakkal regional poultry farming. On december 27 and 28 last year, the price of an egg was Rs. 5. 85 paise. After that, on the 2nd, the price of eggs was Rs. 5. 85 paise for one day only. Currently, the farm purchase price of eggs has increased to 5. 90 paise, reaching a new high. It has been maintained at Rs. 5.90 paise for the last one week. Regarding this, the tamil Nadu Poultry Farmers Association executives said, "Usually, egg consumption increases in the winter months of november and December. Currently, egg sales have doubled due to severe cold in the northern states. Due to this, there is a shortage of eggs across the country. All farms in the Namakkal region do not have even a day's worth of eggs. eggs collected from farms every day are being sent for sale. Due to heavy rains in many districts of tamil Nadu, egg sales have increased. Due to this, egg traders are buying them at the price fixed by the National egg Coordination Committee.
Not only this, as the christmas and New Year festivals are approaching, the demand for eggs has also increased for making cakes. Due to such reasons, the price has increased. The farm purchase price of an egg was Rs. 4. 40 paise last 10 days ago. It has been continuously increasing since then. The farm purchase price of an egg in the hyderabad region has increased to Rs. 6. 10 paise. Following that, the price of eggs is being fixed in the Namakkal region,” they said.
This price has been selling eggs at 5. 90 paise for the past two weeks. Poultry farm owners in tamil Nadu are happy with the increase in egg prices. However, exporters who export eggs to foreign countries have been affected by the unprecedented rise in egg prices and the new export policy in qatar that only eggs weighing more than 60 grams will be allowed to be imported. Due to the new policy, fewer eggs have been exported to qatar since last month. Due to the increase in egg prices, exporters to foreign countries have had to export at higher prices. They say that this has affected exports. There are more than 20 egg export companies in the Namakkal region. Due to the decrease in exports, employment for workers working there has also decreased.
