India evacuates 75 nationals from Syria

Two days after opposition forces deposed dictatorial President Bashar al-Assad and put an end to his 14-year rule, india evacuated 75 indian people from syria on Tuesday. According to a statement from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), all indian citizens have safely crossed into lebanon and will return to india via any available commercial planes.
 
According to the ministry, the evacuation was implemented after a security situation assessment and was coordinated by India's embassies in Beirut and Damascus.

The safety and security of indian nationals overseas is the first priority, according to the government.
 
"For updates, indian citizens who are still in syria are encouraged to contact the indian Embassy in Damascus via their email address (hoc.damascus@mea.gov.in) and emergency helpline number +963 993385973 (also on WhatsApp). The MEA stated that the government will keep a careful eye on the issue.
 
After seizing control of the capital Damascus and a number of other important cities and villages, the rebels on sunday brought down the Syrian government. When the rebel organization Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) took over Damascus, ending his family's 50-year dynasty, Assad left the country.
 

Assad is in moscow and will be granted refuge, according to Russian official media. Civil strife, death, and a ruthless assault on his political rivals characterized his nearly 14-year term in office.
 
The MEA stated on monday that it was keeping an eye on the events in syria and that it supported a peaceful, inclusive political process headed by Syrians moving forward in that nation.
