Rahul Narvekar elected Speaker of Maharashtra Assembly?
BJP mla rahul Narwekar was elected Speaker of the 15th maharashtra Legislative assembly on Monday. He has been elected unopposed Speaker. He filed his nomination papers on sunday and was elected unopposed because the opposition maha Vikas Aghadi decided not to field any candidate against him. In the previous term of the Mahayuti, rahul Narvekar was the Speaker for two and a half years. He is an mla from Colaba assembly seat in Mumbai. He has been elected for the second consecutive time from this seat.
The newly elected MLAs took oath on the first two days of the three-day special session of the Assembly. Out of these, only 9 MLAs are left, who have to take oath today. On the first day of the session, the opposition boycotted the house and refused to take oath. Members of opposition parties took oath on 8 December.

In the recently concluded assembly elections, the Mahayuti alliance got a huge majority and the performance of the opposition parties has been very disappointing. Mahayuti won 230 out of 288 seats, while the three parties of maha Vikas Aghadi together won only 46 seats. In the 15th Lok Sabha, Mahayuti's constituent party BJP has 132 MLAs, shiv sena has 57, ncp has 41, Jan Surabaya shakti party has 2, Rashtriya yuva Swabhiman party has 1, Rashtriya Samaj Paksha has 1, Independents have 2, Rajarshi Sahu Vikas Aghadi has 1, in the opposition Shiv Sena-UBT has 20, congress has 16, CPM has 1, NCP-SP has 10, PWP has 1, AIMIM has 1 and SP has 2 MLAs.
Narvekar was in news for these reasons in his first term
After the election of the Speaker, now the floor test of the new government will take place. After this, governor CP Radhakrishnan will address both the houses of the legislature. During his term, Narvekar had termed the Eknath Shinde faction as the real Shiv Sena. Along with this, he had called the ncp of Ajit Pawar's faction as the real Shiv Sena. shiv sena was formed by balasaheb Thackeray and ncp was formed by Sharad Pawar.
