Bhanurekha pushpavalli and gemini ganesan are the parents of gemini Ganesan, who subsequently changed her name to Rekha. Her career began in 1969 when she signed with Biswajit, a 60s star, for the film Anjana Safar. rekha was 15 years old and Biswajit was in his 30s at the time.
The actress described how Biswajit and the movie's director, Kuljit Pal, plotted to force her to kiss without her permission in her biography, Rekha: The Untold Story. Biswajit had to romance rekha in one of the scenes, but as the camera rolled, he kissed the girl. She was taken by surprise when the director chose not to cut the shot.
Rekha was shocked by the incident and began sobbing uncontrollably. According to sources, the young girl was convinced to return to film more sequences after being astounded by the way the actors and crew treated her. In an interview, Biswajit justified his actions by claiming that he just followed the director's instructions. The actor went on to say that the crowd adored the sequence, proving that it was the right choice.
After experiencing production delays, Anjana Safar had a run-in with the Censor Board. Although filming was finished in the early 1970s, the movie was shelved for years. The movie, which was only released in 1979 under the title Do Shikari, did not perform well at the box office. Do Shikari was a huge failure that damaged Biswajit's reputation.
