Red alert for Chennai...!! Warning for these districts..!?
On the 16th of october, the chennai Meteorological Center issued a red alert. A private meteorologist has predicted that rain is likely and will increase gradually from tomorrow. 4.5 cm of rain is expected today, 26.5 cm tomorrow, and 15 cm on Wednesday. A weather forecast and warning have been issued for the coming days not only in chennai but also in tamil Nadu. In a statement issued by the chennai Meteorological Department, "A low atmospheric circulation is prevailing over the interior parts of tamil Nadu. An atmospheric upper circulation is prevailing over the Southeast Bay of Bengal.
Due to this, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the central South Bay of Bengal. It will move in a west-northwest direction, strengthen as a deep depression, and move towards north tamil Nadu, Puduwai, and south andhra pradesh coast during the next 48 hours," it said. As the South West Monsoon will withdraw from the indian parts in the next four days, while the east and North east winds are blowing in the South indian parts, by october 15-16, the North east Monsoon may start in the South indian parts. Also, the Meteorological Department has informed which areas are likely to receive rain in the coming days.
Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning may occur today(Oct 14) at many places in tamil Nadu, including Puduwai and Karaikal. Similarly, heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur at one or two places in Villupuram, Cuddalore, Ariyalur, Perambalur, mayiladuthurai, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Pudukottai districts, puducherry and Karaikal tomorrow. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely to occur at many places in North tamil Nadu, a few places in South tamil Nadu, Puduwai, and Karaikal tomorrow (Oct 15). Similarly, chennai, Thiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu, Ranipet, Thiruvannamalai, Kallakurichi, Cuddalore districts, and puducherry will receive heavy to very heavy rain.
Vellore, Tirupattur, krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Salem, Erode, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Nagapattinam, mayiladuthurai districts and Karaikal areas also received heavy rain. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning at most places in North tamil Nadu, a few places in South tamil Nadu, Puduwai, and Karaikal on Oct 16th. Very heavy to very heavy rain is expected at one or two places in chennai, Thiruvallur, Kanchipuram, and Chengalpattu districts. A red alert was issued in all four districts on the 16th. Heavy to very heavy rain is expected at one or two places in Iranipet, Thiruvannamalai, Villupuram districts, puducherry and Vellore, Tirupattur, krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Salem, Kallakurichi and Cuddalore districts.
Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning at a few places in tamil Nadu, Puduwai, and Karaikal on the 17th. Thiruvallur, Iranipet, Vellore, Tirupattur and krishnagiri districts are likely to witness heavy to very heavy rains. chennai, Kanchipuram, Thiruvannamalai, Dharmapuri, Salem, and Erode districts also received heavy rainfall. chennai, Thiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu, Ranippet, Thiruvannamalai, Kallakurichi, Tiruchirappalli, Sivagangai and Ramanathapuram districts also received heavy rain at a couple of places.
The sky will remain partly cloudy for the next 24 hours. Light/moderate rain with thunder and lightning is expected in a few parts of the city. The skies will remain mostly cloudy for the next 48 hours. It has also been reported that moderate/heavy rain with thunder and lightning is likely to occur in a few parts of the city.
