Kamala Harris Learn Lessons from her Indian Mother

U.S. Vice President and Democratic Presidential Candidate Kamala harris recently thanked her Indian-origin mother Shyamala Gopalan in a podcast appearance, emphasizing the significant influence her mother had on the lives of both her and her sister. According to Kamala, their mother instilled in the sisters the value of expressing their feelings honestly and independently while crafting their own stories. "It wasn't just about venting, but understanding where you are in a moment and centering yourself," says Kamala herself.

Kamala described how their mother would often question them, "What did you do?" when they were having trouble, forcing them to think back on what they had done and make sure they never made the same errors twice. During the conversation, Kamala also made a strong statement opposing Republican governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who has previously attacked Kamala for not having any biological children of her own and instead for her lack of policy, claiming that women with biological children are often more "humble."

The vice president questioned the governor for having such a narrow-minded perspective and quickly rejected the comments, labeling them antiquated. In defense of herself, Kamala harris stated that she cherished Cole and Ella, her stepchildren, and that this love was unaffected by the fact that they are her stepchildren. She continued by criticizing J.D. Vance for his disparaging remarks and urging women to resist damaging stereotypes and take charge of their own lives.
