Today's single-phase election, which will see over 2 crore voters pick 90 members of the state parliament, is expected to be fiercely contested in Haryana. Along with 1,027 other candidates, the election will determine the fate of prominent political personalities such as chief minister Nayab Singh Saini, former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Vinesh Phogat, and Dushyant Chautala of the JJP.

As it runs for a third straight term, the bjp data-faces stiff opposition, and the congress wants to take back power after a decade.

Regional contenders are vying for influence in the next government formation, including Arvind Kejriwal's aam aadmi party (AAP) and Dushyant Chautala's Jannayak Janta party (JJP), which teamed up with the bjp till early 2024.

90 seats in the state will have polling from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. At 20,632 polling places, more than 2 crore voters—including 8,821 centenarians—are anticipated to cast ballots.

With the recent lok sabha elections, the congress hopes to capitalize on its strong showing. Seven major pledges are listed in their manifesto, including as a formal commitment to MSPs, a caste survey, and a ₹2,000 monthly payment for women.

Raising concerns about important topics like as the Agniveer plan, farmers' protests, and wrestlers' struggle against the bjp, rahul gandhi has led the congress campaign.

Riding the Modi wave, the bjp gained 47 seats in 2014 and installed manohar lal khattar as chief minister, becoming Haryana's first government.

Nayab Singh Saini, the chief minister, expressed optimism, highlighting the development work the bjp administration has done over the last ten years and pointing out that haryana has become a "developed state" under bjp rule.
