Railways geared up for the festive season!!!
The biggest challenge of the year for indian Railways, the festive season, is about to come. During this time, a large number of people go from one city to another to celebrate the festival. For this, the train is the cheapest, comfortable and safest means of travel for them. In such a situation, a big challenge arises in front of the railways to transport crores of people to their homes during the festivals. This fight for train tickets starts from durga puja and continues till Chhath. This one month proves to be very challenging for the indian Railways. This year, to handle the crowd of the festive season, the railways have decided to run 6,000 special trains. Also, general coaches will also be increased in almost all trains.
There is a huge demand on the routes of Bihar, UP and West Bengal
During durga puja, diwali and Chhath, there is a huge crowd especially on many rail routes going to Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said on friday that the Railways has geared up for the festive season this year. We will not let the passengers data-face any inconvenience. So far, a total of 5,975 special trains have been announced. Last year this number was 4,429. He said that this will facilitate more than one crore passengers to go home during the Puja.
Additional general class coaches will also be added to every train
durga puja festival (Durga Puja 2024) is going to run from 9 october to 13 October. This year diwali (Diwali 2024) will be celebrated on 31 october while Chhath Puja is on 7 and 8 November. Railway officials said that the number of special trains can be increased further if the demand increases. Railway minister Vaishnav said that in view of the heavy rush during festivals, apart from adding additional general class coaches in 108 trains, approval has also been given to manufacture 12,500 new coaches of this category.
