prime minister Narendra Modi is set to hold a public rally in srinagar and Katra today, a day after the first phase of the kashmir - SRINAGAR/JAMMU' target='_blank' title='jammu and kashmir-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW">jammu and kashmir assembly elections. In a message on X, he expressed gratitude for the enthusiastic voter turnout, stating, “I look forward to being among the people of kashmir - SRINAGAR/JAMMU' target='_blank' title='jammu and kashmir-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW">jammu and kashmir today. Yesterday’s turnout shows their eagerness for a vibrant electoral process. I will discuss our development agenda and seek the people's blessings.”
The rally, expected to draw over 30,000 bjp supporters, will take place at Sher-e-Kashmir Park in Srinagar. bjp leader Altaf Thakur noted that the prime minister will meet with 19 party candidates to boost their morale. The bjp has fielded candidates in 19 out of 47 seats in kashmir, a decrease from the 2014 assembly elections.
In preparation for the rally, extensive security measures have been implemented, with multiple agencies overseeing the event. The first phase of the three-phase assembly election, which concluded on september 18, involved polling in 24 constituencies. The remaining phases are scheduled for september 25 and october 1, with vote counting set for october 8.
