Haryana Elections - BJP Targets Third Term, Congress in Disarray

SIBY JEYYA
According to reports and predictions, the bjp is quite likely to win a third straight term in office in the haryana Assembly elections of 2024, while a return by the congress is improbable. All 90 seats will be up for vote on october 5, and the results will be announced on october 8.

Congress appeared to have a chance in the 2024 haryana Assembly elections prior to ticket distribution. But family values shaped their decisions. Of the 32 names on the first list of candidates, 28 were serving as MLAs at the time. According to sources, Kumari Selja's side only obtained four seats, while the camp of former chief minister Bhupendra Singh Hooda received 28. This pattern persisted in the listings that followed.

Even while the bjp has criticized congress for its familyism, it is not exempt from it either. Family ties impacted eleven bjp seats. Notable names are the daughter of mp Rao Inderjit in Ahirwal and Adampur mla Bhavy Bishnoi. Also running is the grandson of former chief minister Bhajan Lal.

Both parties had internal uprisings following the publishing of the candidate lists. Numerous influential people quit their parties or submitted independent candidacies. By the time the final list was announced, the bjp had managed to quiet its dissidents. congress still data-faces difficulties with internal dissension, though.

BJP's Prospects

The bjp administration took office in 2014 and is again in charge in 2019. Experts predict that they will hold onto power because of internal problems in Congress. Congress's standing has been undermined by familyism, as seen by the allocation of tickets that favor the Hooda family over other leaders like Kumari Selja.

Following the finalization of nominations, the bjp seems to be ahead of the congress as the election day draws near. Despite early turmoil within the party, they were able to stabilize by skillfully resolving internal disputes.

As the election gets closer, Haryana's political climate is changing. congress had potential at first, but internal familyism and disobedience have made things difficult for them. The bjp has suppressed internal dissension and maintained its position, making it appear ready for another term.
