ED raids 3 locations in Bengal linked to financial fraud at RG Kar hospital
Search operations were conducted by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on friday at many sites in Howrah, Sonarpur, and Hooghly, West Bengal, in relation to the purported financial scandal involving RG Kar Medical Centre and Hospital.

Sources claim that the residence of a cousin of Dr. Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar Medical Centre and Hospital, was among the locations raided by the central investigative agency in Hooghly.

The central agency filed a lawsuit against the RG Kar Medical college last week in relation to purported financial irregularities. The Central Bureau of Investigation's (CBI) FIR, which mentioned Dr. Ghosh in connection with its investigation into the doctor's murder, served as the foundation for the case's registration.
Regarding the financial misbehavior at RG Kar Medical college, the cbi has filed a formal complaint under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, charging criminal conspiracy, cheating, and dishonesty. These cases include crimes that can be prosecuted and do not allow for bail.

Dr. Ghosh oversaw RG Kar Medical college as its principal from february 2021 until september 2023. Despite being moved in october 2023, he strangely returned to work at the hospital a month later. He held this role till the day a trainee doctor was brutally raped and killed.
Dr. Ghosh was taken into the custody of the investigating agency after being detained by the cbi on september 2 in connection with the corruption case.
