Former RG Kar Principal Sandip Ghosh Faces Probing by CBI

Former principal of RG Kar Medical college and Hospital, Sandip Ghosh, has undergone 15 days of questioning by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), including lie-detection and voice analysis tests, in connection with the alleged rape and murder of a trainee doctor at the institution.
Ghosh appears to be shifting the blame for the hospital's failure to promptly inform the woman's parents and for leaving the crime scene unattended for approximately 40 minutes. Despite a fortnight of analysis, questions remain about why Ghosh, as the then-principal, was not immediately notified of the death and why there was a 30-minute delay in informing him after the body was discovered. During this period, hospital officials reportedly informed the victim's family and suggested that the death might have been a suicide.
The cbi has repeatedly interrogated Ghosh and conducted a polygraph test to identify any discrepancies in his statements. The investigation is also examining the presence of his “aides” in the seminar hall, despite Ghosh's claims of being unaware of the medic's death at that time.
Ghosh reportedly told the cbi that he was first informed of the death at RG Kar hospital around 10:20 am on august 9, although the body was discovered at 9:30 am and the police were notified at 10:10 am—40 minutes after the body was found. He claimed that he received a phone call from sumit Roy Tapadar, an associate professor in the respiratory medicine department, at 10:00 am, but was unable to answer due to being in the washroom. Ghosh said he returned Tapadar's call at 10:20 am, at which point he was informed of the death.
According to Ghosh, he immediately proceeded to the hospital and called the in-charge of the Tala police station, who confirmed that the police were already on-site. He also contacted the medical superintendent, the head of the chest medicine department, and the Rogi kalyan Samiti chairman before arriving at the hospital at 11:00 am, sources said.
