Zelenskyy calls Putin 'sick old man' during Independence Day address
Zelenskyy declared that the new weapon, Palianytsia, was quicker and more potent than the drones manufactured in ukraine, which Kyiv has so far used to retaliate against russia by hitting its military airfields and oil refineries, on the day that ukraine celebrated 33 years of post-Soviet independence.
"Our adversary will be aware of the Ukrainian counterattack strategy. Long-range, balanced, and deserving," he said.
He spoke mockingly of the 71-year-old president of russia and the nuclear hyperbole emanating from Moscow.
"A sick old man from red Square who constantly threatens everyone with the red button will not dictate any of his red lines to us," he stated in a video posted on the messaging app Telegram.
Since its invasion of ukraine in february 2022, russia has assaulted the country with hundreds of missiles and drones, denouncing Ukraine's drone assaults as terrorist acts. Russia's forces are in the east of ukraine, where they now control 18% of the nation.
"I want to stress once more that our new weapon decisions, including Palianytsia, is our realistic way to act while some of our partners are unfortunately delaying decisions," Zelenskyy said at a press conference.
A sort of bread known as "Palianytsia" is said to be too hard for Russians to pronounce, and Ukrainians claim that this fact has been utilized, sometimes ironically, to distinguish between Russians and Ukrainians throughout the conflict.
Regarding the drone missile, Zelenskyy remarked, "It will be very difficult for russia, difficult to even pronounce what exactly has hit it."
