IPL Rules Changed for Dhoni..!? Protests from other Teams..!?
The bcci is set to change a rule for the sole reason that dhoni should be retained in chennai Super Kings ahead of the 2025 IPL mega auction. In the recent IPL owners' meeting, other teams protested about this. However, the bcci is going to enforce this rule despite protests. Until a few years ago, there was a practice where an indian player would be declared "uncapped" if he had not played international matches for five years. That means he will be placed in the uncapped category where he will compete only in local tournaments. That way, the local player can be retained before the IPL mega auction using the rule that only one local player can be retained.
In this, other IPL owners objected to the rule change to declare an indian team player who has not played an international match for five years as a local player. However, the bcci, which calculated the higher viewership and advertising revenue it would generate if dhoni played in the IPL series, is set to make the change requested by the CSK management.
