Important cautions were issued by the US government to its people living in India. It requested that its residents avoid going to places where Maoism is practiced, such as Manipur, Jammu and Kashmir, the data-border between india and pakistan, and the central-east. According to the US State Department, information on the northeastern states has been incorporated into the amended travel alert for India.

It was said that the advise was issued with the violence, criminality, and instability in the aforementioned locations in mind. It was requested of US citizens to exercise caution over the rising crime and terrorist activity in India. US citizens were not asked to travel to the Indo-Pak data-border region since there is a possibility of gunfire between india and pakistan in these locations.

Due to the recent spike in terrorist activity, the public was urged not to travel to locations such as Leh, Ladakh, Gulmarg, Pahalgam, and other parts of Jammu and Kashmir. It was also warned to US nationals not to tour in close proximity to the LOC zones. According to the US Department of State, there has recently been rape and sexual harassment incidents in a few popular eastern indian tourist destinations, as well as turmoil and violence in Manipur. Therefore, it was recommended that US nationals avoid travelling to India's northeastern states.

The department continued by saying that Maoist activity is present in North telangana and West Bengal. In the Maoist-affected areas of West Bengal, Chattisgarh, Bihar, Meghalaya, Jharkhand, Odisha, telugu states, and Maharastra, it was claimed that there were several attacks on government personnel. Before visiting certain regions, US Department of State representatives stationed in india were advised to obtain authorisation from the relevant authorities. It was mentioned that if the authorities are visiting major cities, authorisation is not required.
