Singapore's new visa rule..!! indian IT sector affected..!?
While the IT services sector, a mainstay of the indian economy, is already struggling to get new business, it has struggled to post profitable quarterly results to keep investors' confidence alive. The growth of the indian IT services sector can be easily measured by the number of new employees and the number of jobs created in the sector. In such a situation, the government of singapore, which is a major market for indian IT services, has made a new change in the visa structure for skilled workers. The indian IT sector has expressed concern that this new change will affect India's trade. With singapore already facing an acute shortage of skilled workers, the new visa regime is said to be a hindrance to ease of doing business.
The singapore government has decided to issue a new point-based structure for skilled worker visas. Only eight universities in india are eligible to earn these points. Through this, equal weightage has been given to all the people of the country beyond 8 college graduates. NASSCOM said this practice will not reflect the current IT staff structure. It has also requested to expand the list of skills shortage jobs. The details of this list are given in the back part of the message. Visa renewals from september must earn at least 40 points under the new points structure. Along with this, you should get a salary commensurate with this qualification. This is the only way to get an Employment Pass (EP) to work in Singapore. Singapore's new points framework is called the Complementarity Assessment Framework (COMPASS). According to Shivendra Singh, Vice-Chairman of NASSCOM, India's leading IT industry body, it is well known that there is a shortage of talent in the wallet PLATFORM' target='_blank' title='digital-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW">digital sector in Singapore. Hence, there is a need to bring critical talent to singapore, for which there must be a relaxation of the Employment Pass (EP) norm.
For example, under the new norms, IIT delhi and IIT mumbai graduates can get 20 points. Graduates from the other five IITs and certain departments of IISc can get 10 points. Apart from these 8 colleges, all the graduates of the country will be placed on the same scale. However, the indian IT sector recruits only a small number of employees from IIT colleges and recruits the majority from other universities and colleges in the country. Hence, Nasscom senior official Shivendra Singh says that this list should be expanded.
Also, as per the new regulation, there is a separate restriction that a company can get 20 points only if less than 5% of its employees are from a particular country. Nasscom's recommendation at this stage is to add the IT sector and other key industries to the list of skills shortage industries in Singapore. This will give you an extra bonus of 20 points for tasks on this list. This will free india from the problem of college-based qualifications.
