With a 2.31 decline to 5,427.13 on Thursday, the S&P 500 saw its worst one-day trading since december 2022. It was the worst single-day performance for the American benchmark, which monitors the performance of 500 of the biggest businesses listed on the US stock exchange.

In the meantime, the Nasdaq saw a $1 trillion (Rs 83 lakh crore) loss, marking the first significant one-day percentage decrease since october 2022. To reach 39,853.87, the Dow Jones fell 1.25 percent, or 504.22 points. The drop in American markets may be related to investors' dissatisfaction with Alphabet and Tesla's profits, two of the biggest companies in the world. The ten richest persons in the world together lost close to $66 billion in a single day.

Elon Musk, the CEO of tesla, suffered the worst loss when his wealth dropped by $17.1 billion to $231 billion as a consequence of a 12% decrease in tesla shares. Musk is still the richest person in the world despite the significant loss; he has a $33 billion advantage over Jeff Bezos, the chairman of amazon, who lost $5.2 billion when amazon shares dropped about 3%. Stay tuned.
