Bajrang Dal protests against reconstruction of Moinabad mosque

SIBY JEYYA
For the second day in a row, there was unrest in Chilkur village, Moinabad, ranga reddy district. Bajrang Dal members held a protest, calling for the demolition of the newly constructed building that had replaced the destroyed mosque.

After a foundation was established for the restoration of the mosque, which was demolished on monday, July 22, by land grabbers, the Bajrang Dal announced a "Chalo Moinabad" protest. To avoid any disturbance, a significant number of police officers were deployed in response to the Bajrang Dal rally. The demonstrators vowed to demolish any long-term building that was being built there.

Members of the Bajrang Dal also assembled at a nearby temple on tuesday to demonstrate against the mosque's restoration. The demonstrators gave up after receiving assurances from the village elders that a fence had been installed up to the boundary and that no further permanent structures were planned.

Officials from the TG Waqf Board, together with Muslim leaders and political party activists, had set up camp near the location of Masjid-e-Jagirdar since early in the morning.

While the entire area of land in Surveys 133 and 134 is more than 15 acres, the Waqf Board Gazette states that the Masjid-e-Jagirdar was given an area of 480 square yards (four guntas).

Principal Secretary Tafseer Iqbal of the Minority Welfare Department, AIMIM MLC mirza Rahmath Baig, MBT spokesman Amjedullah Khan, TGMREIS Chairman Faheem Qureshi, and Chairman of the TG Waqf Board, Azmathullah Hussaini, all paid a visit to the location on monday night.
