Usha Chilukuri Vance, an Indian-American lawyer, gained global attention when Republican presidential nominee donald trump selected her husband, JD Vance, as his running mate. If trump and Vance defeat current President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala harris in the general elections on november 5, usha, 38, might become the first indian American second lady.
After the couple joyfully welcomed convention participants, usha accompanied her 39-year-old husband on monday as he accepted the nomination in an acclimation vote by delegates.
Usha, an immigrant from India, was raised in a suburb of San Diego. The family that usha comes from is Telugu. She was referred to be a “leader” and a “bookworm” by friends from her early and teenage years. She was a registered Democrat in 2014.

Usha is a civil litigation lawyer with Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP, and a Yale Law school alumna. She worked as a clerk for Chief Justice john Roberts of the supreme Court. While Justice Brett Kavanaugh was a judge on the US court of Appeals for the DC Circuit, she also worked as his clerk. While studying at Yale Law school, usha and Vance got to know one another.

According to a New York Times feature, the Vance couple were married in Kentucky in 2014 and received a Hindu priest's blessing in a separate ceremony. The Vances are parents to three children: Mirabel, a daughter, and Ewan and Vivek, two sons.
