Voting begins in UK - Will Rishi Sunak's Reign End?

G GOWTHAM
Today is a historic general election in the UK, with millions of voters that might change the course of british politics. Opinion surveys suggest that Keir Starmer's Labour party will triumph handily, perhaps ending prime minister Rishi Sunak's Conservative Party's 14-year rule.

Sunak, the first prime minister of indian descent in Britain, made a last-ditch plea to electors, warning that a Labour "supermajority" would mean greater taxes. Starmer called the Conservatives out for their "voter suppression," dismissing their warnings as an attempt to prevent people from casting ballots.

The head of Labour stated, "You have to vote for change if you want it."

• A total of 650 parliamentary seats in England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern ireland will be decided by voters. 46 million eligible voters can cast ballots at any one of the approximately 40,000 polling places, which are open from 7 AM to 10 PM. Voter ID is now required for this election.
• According to surveys, Keir Starmer, a centrist leftist, will easily overcome Rishi Sunak's Conservatives, or Tories, to become the next prime minister. A "new age of hope and opportunity" has been promised by Starmer, who has also said that his cabinet is "ready for government."

• In recent weeks, Sunak, who announced the election sooner than expected, has changed his campaign tactics. He has given up on trying to win five in a row and is instead warning against an unopposed Labour supermajority.
• According to sources, Sunak worries about losing Richmond and Northallerton, a Yorkshire constituency that he won in 2019 with a majority of 27,000 votes. According to close confidants, Sunak worries about the close contest, despite protestations from Conservative insiders, according to The Guardian.
