Rahul Gandhi gets bail from Bengaluru court in case filed by BJP
In relation to a defamation case filed by karnataka bjp MLC Keshav Prasad, congress leader rahul gandhi is scheduled to appear before a special Bengaluru court on friday at 10.30 a.m., along with chief minister Siddaramaiah. The Deputy chief minister, D.K. Shivakumar, has advised party workers not to bring party flags or yell anti-BJP slogans within the court premises.
In his defamation complaint, prasad claims that congress published full-page ads accusing the former bjp administration in the state of collecting a forty percent commission for delivering government projects, therefore engaging in propaganda. He said that Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar need to be prosecuted under Section 500 of the IPC for spreading false accusations during the assembly elections in order to mislead the state's populace.
On june 1, the chief minister Siddaramaiah and his deputy Shivakumar appeared in court and were granted bail. Despite providing an assurance, rahul gandhi, a party to the lawsuit, did not show up, and his lawyer requested that a non-bailable arrest warrant be issued for the bjp leader. bjp karnataka branch filed a defamation lawsuit against congress leader rahul gandhi, and now a Bengaluru court has granted him bail.
