The Biggest Flops of BJP in LS Elections 2024

G GOWTHAM
In many constituencies during the most recent lok sabha elections, the bharatiya janata party (BJP) suffered significant losses.

Madhavi Lata

The bharatiya janata party fielded businesswoman and cultural activist madhavi latha to represent hyderabad in Telangana. She was deliberately chosen by the bjp to oppose the authority of All india Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chairman Asaduddin Owaisi. But despite all of the excitement around her candidature, madhavi Latha's election campaign turned out to be a letdown. She received just 3,23,894 votes in the lok sabha elections, whereas Owaisi won with a commanding lead of 6,61,981 votes. This wide disparity of more than 3,38,000 votes suggests that madhavi latha and the BJP's attempts to weaken Owaisi's grasp on hyderabad have been mostly unsuccessful.

Annamalai

The performance of the BJP's candidate, annamalai, in tamil Nadu was another blow to the party. Annamalai's candidature was highly anticipated, and he was expected to have a significant influence. But the election results painted a different picture.
The highly anticipated bjp leader annamalai ran against Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) candidate Ganapathy Rajkumar. Despite being heavily covered by the BJP's propaganda news agency and having great expectations, annamalai was well almost 59,000 votes behind Rajkumar. The BJP's aspirations to win seats in tamil Nadu were shattered when the DMK-Congress combination took the initiative. bjp members believe annamalai turned the party into a bakra.

Smriti Irani

Prominent bjp leader smriti irani ran from the Amethi seat in an attempt to win a second term in a row. But the outcome of the election dealt a serious blow to her hopes. Irani was up against fierce opposition from KL Sharma of the congress, who despite beginning his political career as a peon at the congress office, was able to acquire traction in the polls with the help of rahul and priyanka Gandhi.
