Tamil Cinema Industry's Only Hope!

G GOWTHAM
The tamil cinema industry is having a difficult year, with key films like Lal Salaam, Ayaalaan, Captain Miller, and others failing to create an impression at the box office. The only noteworthy success thus far has been tamannaah and Raashi Khanna's Aranmanai 4.

To fill the hole, tamil theatres have turned to films in other languages, such as Manjummel Boys and Premalu in Malayalam, Hanu Man and Tillu Square in Telugu, and hollywood franchises like Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire and Kung Fu Panda 4. Even re-releases such as Vijay's Ghilli brought some respite to local exhibitors. However, the general quality of tamil film has recently declined, leaving spectators yearning for that one huge blockbuster. The industry expects indian 2 to be the game changer of the year, with a major worldwide opening.

Kamal Haasan's last film, Vikram, made 65 crores globally on its first day, with a first-weekend total of more than 160 crores. Given the large personalities and franchise value involved, indian 2 aspires to make an even bigger impression, with a worldwide opening day collection of 75 to 80 crores and a first-weekend collection of 180 to 200 crores. Anything below these figures would be regarded a disappointment.

After 28 years, kamal haasan returns to the legendary character of Senapathy in indian 2, which also stars Siddharth, rakul preet singh, and Kajal Aggarwal. The film will be released in numerous languages on July 12.
