Bhansali Changes Track after 'Heeramandi' faces Backlash

Heeramandi is one of the most talked-about concerts in recent memory. Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Netflix series has been one of the most severely abused on social media. Bhansali data-faced a lot of backlash and criticism for promoting prostitutes, glamorising brothels, and showcasing untalented performers like Sharmin Segal on the programme. Many people were offended by his comment that he considers prostitutes more intriguing than plain middle-class ladies. For the first time in his career, Bhansali received such harsh criticism for his work.

Bhansali is now working on love and war, which will star Ranbir Kapoor, alia bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal. Following the uproar for Heeramandi, Bhansali appears to have chosen to change his track and unique style of filmmaking. Bhansali described "Love and War" as a change from his customary approach, with a modern love narrative instead of the grandeur and splendour of Heeramandi. He stated that he now wants to explore new frontiers as a filmmaker. love and war will be Bollywood's first triangle love story in a long time.
 

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Heeramani: The Diamond Bazaar made its Netflix premiere a few weeks ago, marking the filmmaker's first entry into the realm of OTT. While the programme was popular on the streamer, it drew mixed reactions. However, Bhansali's niece Sharmin Segal was singled out for criticism for her depiction of Alamzeb, with the internet calling her out for her 'wooden emotions' and weak acting talents, as well as branding her a 'nepo youngster.'
