Hyderabad - Telangana Govt to Regulate School Fees
The new body, modeled after Telangana's Admission and Fee Regulatory Body (TAFRC) for professional courses, would be in charge of supervising and regulating private school prices. The government is working on legislation to assist this endeavor, but it will not take effect until the following academic year, as admissions for the current year have already closed and telangana schools will begin their new session on june 12.
"We will submit legislation to restrict fees at private schools. Although the new laws will not be implemented this year, they will be effective in the 2025-26 academic year," stated Burra Venkatesham, Principal Secretary to the government (Education Department).
To calculate the yearly charge, this committee took into account a variety of expenses, including staff pay, building rent and upkeep, classroom needs, and donations to educational CESS.
The formation of a school fee regulation body is intended to provide much-needed relief to parents while also ensuring a more transparent and equitable price structure in private schools across Telangana.
