Chennai municipal body announced strict rules for pet dogs...

The Greater chennai Corporation has enforced more stringent policies regarding pets, particularly dogs, in public areas following an event in which two Rottweiler dogs attacked a five-year-old girl in a park. Authorities in Chennai's Thousand Lights region have taken severe measures to improve safety measures in response to the tragedy.
Pets inside public parks are now required by the updated guidelines to be leashed and muzzled. Pet owners are also only allowed to bring one pet at a time inside the park. In addition, a pet license is now requiredaccording to the chennai Corporation's announcement. "Companion and pet dogs will be checked for license compliance," the warning clearly says.
Sudaksha, the young child, was unfortunately attacked on sunday as she was playing in the park. She was attacked by two Rottweilers that had been let loose, seriously hurting her. According to Dr. J Radhakrishnan, Commissioner of the Greater chennai Corporation, the child's scalp was lacerated by 11 inches. At present, Sudaksha is receiving treatment at a private hospital located in the city, and the Corporation has agreed to pay for all of his medical bills.
The owner of the dogs and two other people involved were among the three people the city police detained after the event. Nonetheless, because the offenses are subject to bail, all three of them were freed from the police station on bond. The canines were not sterilized, according to investigations, which suggests that they may have been involved in commercial breeding.
In a related event, the federal government called on states to forbid the breeding and sale of 23 dog breeds known for their aggression, including American Bulldogs, Rottweilers, Pitbull Terriers, and Mastiffs, in March. It is advised that owners of these breeds sterilise their animals as soon as possible. The Animal Husbandry Department referenced comments made by animal welfare organizations and citizen forums that supported banning specific breeds from being kept as pets.
