According to a study, Hyderabad's Urban Heat Islands are mostly located in a few regions. These locations are located in the northwest, western, southern, and southeast sectors of the Greater hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), according to Sabarinath, a research intern at hyderabad Urban Lab. They are identified based on the analysis of march 2024 data.

Hyderabad areas with the highest Urban Heat Islands

They are situated in the wards of Patancheruvu and bandlaguda in the northwest and the Gachibowli ward in the western regions.

In addition, the GHMC's BN reddy Nagar, Hayathnagar, and Mansoorabad wards as well as the Mailardevpally ward in the southern area are home to a large concentration of Urban Heat Islands (UHIs).

Based on the examination of data from march 2024, they are recognised.

What are UHIs?

These are the urban regions where the difference between the outside and inside temperatures (LST) is greater.

They are the result of manmade activities like intensive urban living devoid of green areas and urbanisation.

Hyderabad's temperatures are rising in part because of the rise of urban heat islands.

The hottest temperature ever recorded in hyderabad yesterday was 43.8 degrees Celsius, and that was at Khairatabad.
