Bengaluru techie turned thief after losing job during Covid

An arrest was made on suspicion of 24 computers, valued at over Rs 10 lakh, being taken from paying guest (PG) lodgings in Bengaluru by a 26-year-old former IT employee.
 
Jassie Agarwal relocated from noida to Bengaluru in search of employment. She was laid off during COVID-19.
 
She then reportedly began robbing PGs of their computers and other electronics, bringing them back to her village to resell on the illicit market. Allegedly, Jassie used to get into unoccupied rooms and take computers that were left to charge.
 
Police learned about the situation when a PG resident filed a complaint, stating that many computers had vanished.
 
On march 26, police detained Jassie and found 24 computers valued at more than Rs 10-15 lakh.

"Jassie has been acting in this manner in several places. This has continued for some time now. A senior police officer stated, "Our criminal division has obtained CCTV images showing her entering PGs and leaving with stolen devices.
