The aam aadmi party (AAP) is planning to 'gherao' prime minister Narendra Modi's home on Delhi's highly guarded Lok kalyan Marg on tuesday in protest of chief minister Arvind Kejriwal's apprehension by the Enforcement Directorate over the now-cancelled delhi liquor policy case.
Following the demonstration, the delhi Traffic police warned that cars would not be allowed to stop or park anywhere on Tughlak Road, Safdarjung Road, or Kemal Ataturk Marg. They also issued an alert on restrictions and detours on important roads.
Here are the latest developments so far
• At 10:00 am, AA party officials and members will assemble in the patel Chowk neighborhood of the nation's capital. They will march up Tughlaq Road from patel Chowk to prime minister Narendra Modi's home in the guarded Lok kalyan Marg. However, the delhi police have refused to allow the party to hold any demonstration of this nature. The demonstration today is in opposition to delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal's detention on march 21 by the Enforcement Directorate in relation to the money laundering case involving the now-canceled excise scheme. Up until Thursday, he is being held by the Enforcement Directorate.
• The delhi Traffic police (DTP) have issued advisories cautioning people not to travel specific routes on tuesday due to the protest. Kemal Ataturk Marg, Safdarjang Road, Akbar Road, and Teen Murti Marg are should be avoided, the DTP has warned. Additionally, it recommended that travelers "carefully plan their travel with sufficient time at hand" before visiting bus, train, and airline terminals.
