The main man is MS Dhoni, who handed over the CSK captaincy on match night and allowed Ruturaj Gaikwad to take charge of the defending champs. There will be more interest on the match as virat kohli makes his return to competitive cricket. All the indications are that Dhoni, like he did with India, is about to conquer timing once more. With what is perhaps the strongest bowling unit the team has ever had, Gaikwad now has the chance to carry on a great history after winning their fifth championship with a youthful bowling unit.

For RCB, mohammed siraj received the new ball, and like CSK's new ball bowlers, he was able to generate some swing with it. Even though the bowlers for CSK did not make good use of it, it will be interesting to see how RCB does. He did give up a few boundaries in that regard, but those are more the result of Gaikwad's genius than of his mistakes in terms of lines or lengths.  The new ball has been taken by stand-in yash Dayal from the opposite end. He also struck his length on the first ball. Another quick-bowling alternative that RCB has up their ranks is Alzari Joseph. It will be intriguing to observe Rachin's reaction to making his IPL debut. 

Here, Rachin has also had a good start. With just two fielders outside the ring, he is playing some aggressive strokes that are running away to the boundary. Even though Siraj has bowled well, the Royals do not want Siraj to start this first stint at 14s. However, the head start Rachin is providing could allow Gaikwad to lead his team.
