The supreme court has dismissed sbi Bank's plea seeking time to disclose the details of electoral bonds received by political parties. Petitions were filed in the supreme court alleging a lack of transparency in the electoral bond scheme. The Constitution Bench of the supreme court, which heard these petitions, ordered the cancellation of the electoral bonds Scheme. Further, the supreme court directed the state bank of india (SBI) to submit to the election commission by march 6, 2024, the details of the bonds sold since april 12, 2019, when the electoral bonds were implemented.
However, the state bank of india did not submit the details to the supreme court by that date. During the last case hearing in this regard, sbi said that they should have time till june to submit the details of election papers. The bank appealed to the supreme Court.
