Travel to germany may be impacted by a strike...

Next week, a two-day walkout by cabin crew members at Deutsche Lufthansa AG will occur in germany, continuing a trend of walkouts the airline has experienced in recent months. In an email on Saturday, labor union UFO stated that all flights leaving Frankfurt airport on tuesday and Munich airport on wednesday will be impacted by the strikes. Following a two-day strike by Lufthansa ground staff in germany last week, which coincided with a separate labor action by the nation's train drivers, travelers were still experiencing minor delays on Saturday.

The biggest economy in europe has struggled in recent weeks with several transportation interruptions brought on by strikes or farmers blocking roads in protest of subsidy cuts. On Thursday, Lufthansa announced that it will not increase its profitability in 2024 and that it anticipates experiencing greater first-quarter losses due to disruptions from worker strikes and a slowdown in the freight boom that was sparked by the pandemic.

The largest airline group in europe calculates that hundreds of thousands of passenger travels were affected during the strikes in january and February, costing it at least €100 million ($109 million). The carrier will stick to its 8% operating margin goal for 2024, according to Chief Financial Officer Remco Steenbergen, but the first-quarter walkouts may have an effect on the results for the entire year.
