Telangana - Leaders to woo minorities via Iftar parties for LS election

SIBY JEYYA
Political parties in telangana are expected to court Muslims and community leaders through iftar parties to gain support from the voters, particularly with parliamentary elections just around the corner and minority votes potentially influencing the outcome in several lok sabha seats.

Most likely, on march 12, the month of Ramadan will start. At that same time, the lok sabha election campaign would likely intensify. All india Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), the opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), and the incumbent congress have strong relations with the Muslim community, and their candidates will make an effort to win over votes from the minority.

‘Dawat-e-Iftar’

Leaders from all political parties claim that candidates and local authorities want to start "Dawat-e-Iftar" on the first day of Ramadan and continue with the program for the whole of Ramadan. A Muslim congress representative stated that his party has great hopes for the lok sabha elections and that minority votes helped bring them to power.
"Iftar events and large crowds at mosques are common during Ramadan month. He stated that our party officials will visit the mosque and plan iftar events to engage the public.

Every year, during Ramadan, the leaders of the AIMIM party host "iftar" events in all of their constituencies and other locations. During the month of Ramadan this year, it is probable that corporations and municipal authorities will plan large-scale Iftar gatherings in residential colonies.

Hyderabad seat and old city

across reality, the BRS enjoys strong popularity across Telangana's minority-dominated areas, except the hyderabad lok sabha seat. The leaders of BRS will not pass up the chance to fully use Ramadan and will use Iftar programs to discuss prior government-launched initiatives to engage voters.

The Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT), which just fully resurrected itself during the 2023 assembly elections, intends to host Iftar activities in several hyderabad neighborhoods. The celebration will center on underprivileged areas of hyderabad where the impoverished typically don't enjoy a satisfying Iftar meal. It is anticipated that Oarty supporters and adherents would finance and plan the iftar event.

Additionally, it is anticipated that local leaders from various political parties would deliver groceries to individuals. In Ramadan, the wealthy typically provide food to the underprivileged, and political parties are expected to use their networks to distribute ration packages to the needy and impoverished.
