Too close, too far away. Many candidates for the position of Assistant Executive engineer (AEE) are in this scenario; despite earning a respectable rank in the general ranking list, they have been waiting for appointment orders and certificate verification for the last five months.

Due to this excessive wait, over 200 candidates demonstrated on saturday at gandhi bhavan in this city, calling on the TSPSC and the State government to start the certificate verification process right away and issue the appointment orders.

Candidates claim that the TSPSC announced 1,540 AEE positions across many departments, and on january 22, 2023, a computer-based recruitment exam was held. However, the problem with the question paper leak forced the cancellation of the exam. A general ranking list was made public in september 2023 following a retake of the test on May 9, 2023.

Speaking to india Herald, candidate B sumanth Reddy from Sangareddy, who arrived at gandhi bhavan on saturday, said he spent two years putting his PhD coursework at IIT-Kharagpur on hold to study for and sit in the AEE recruitment exam.

"We still don't have jobs, even after placing highly on the general ranking list that was made public in september 2023. Many applicants are experiencing despair as a result, which is causing them to consider suicide. We want appointment orders issued by the government as soon as feasible," reddy continued.
