The world's most popular micro-blogging platform, formerly known as twitter and now rebranded as X, is set to enter the email service arena to compete with Google's Gmail. This announcement was made by Elon Musk, the owner of X, confirming the launch of their email service, XMail. The anticipation for X's foray into the email domain had been growing for weeks, and Musk's confirmation now positions X as a potential alternative to Gmail.

In response to a user's inquiry about the development of XMail, Musk replied with a simple statement, "It is coming," officially signalling the imminent launch of X's email service. The move is expected to provide users worldwide with an alternative to Gmail, which has long been the dominant force in the email service landscape.

While details about XMail's features and functionalities remain undisclosed, it is noteworthy that X has previously introduced paid services on its micro-blogging platform. The question now arises whether XMail will follow a similar model, introducing paid services within its email offering.

Recent rumours suggesting the potential closure of Google's Gmail service fuelled speculation and discussions about the need for alternatives. However, google promptly addressed these rumours, confirming via Gmail's official X account that Gmail will continue to operate, dispelling concerns about its discontinuation. As X ventures into the email service domain, the competition with Gmail is expected to intensify, providing users with more choices in the email services market.
