The bharatiya janata party (BJP) is reportedly gearing up to release its first list of candidates for the upcoming lok sabha elections by the end of February. According to sources, this list is expected to include around 100 names, primarily featuring candidates for constituencies where the party data-faced defeat in the 2014 and 2019 lok sabha elections.

The first list is anticipated to focus on 14 lok sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh, along with constituencies in states like tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, West Bengal, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Odisha, and Maharashtra, where the bjp either lost or secured victories with narrow margins in the previous elections.

Approximately 160 such seats were identified by the bjp, where the party aims to strengthen its presence. These seats were strategically chosen, considering either the BJP's inability to secure a win or its narrow margin of victory. The party has been actively working on these seats for about a year, assigning cluster in-charges to oversee the preparations. Out of the 160 identified seats, candidate selections have been finalized for nearly 100 seats.

The release of the first candidate list is expected to provide insights into the BJP's electoral strategy, emphasizing its focus on reclaiming lost ground and fortifying its position in key constituencies. With the lok sabha elections on the horizon, the announcement of candidates will set the stage for an intense political contest as the bjp aims to secure a strong mandate in the upcoming polls.
