Bharat Bandh: Are Schools And Colleges Closed ?

A nationwide strike known as the "Bharat Bandh" has been called by central trade unions and the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) in response to farmers' ongoing protests and demands for the implementation of minimum support price (MSP) laws and other agricultural reforms. The strike is scheduled for Friday(today), february 16, 2024. Farmers who were protesting in 2021 said they would halt their protest when the Center offered them higher crop prices. In accordance with the swaminathan Commission findings, they are calling for the passage of legislation that would ensure a minimum support price (MSP) for all crops. In addition, they want a plan to give farmers and farm laborers pensions, as well as a total remission of all debt.

The strike, also known as the Gramin or Grameen Bharat Bandh, is slated to begin at 6:00 AM and go until 4:00 PM. During this time, farmers will participate in a gigantic traffic gridlock on major routes throughout the nation from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Roads and transit are expected to be disrupted by the strike, perhaps resulting in traffic congestion. The dates of the upcoming school holidays are still unknown. There is very little chance that schools will be closed despite the ongoing CBSE board exams. For any updates or concerns, parents and kids should stay in contact with the appropriate authorities.

As of right now, states have not announced any intentions to close schools. In actuality, boards like the ICSE and CBSE have already started their yearly exams. Thus, it doesn't appear likely that continuing board exams will result in school closings. Contacting the school administration for clarification is advised if there are any doubts or concerns. As of right moment, neither the cancellation of the educational institutions nor the suspension of in-person sessions have been announced by Central Universities or Colleges.
