At the Atchampet Agricultural Market office in the nagarkurnool District of Andhra Pradesh, a demonstration by groundnut farmers demanding the minimum support price (MSP) for their crop on monday descended into violence. The farmers claimed that unfair pricing resulted from trader syndication, since they had been waiting for traders to buy their groundnuts at a reasonable price.

Farmers became further irate when they trashed the market yard office because they were dissatisfied with the officials' lack of response. They can also be seen pulling Aruna, the chairman of the market committee, by her saree into a mound of groundnuts in a video that has been circulated on social media.

Office furniture was also set on fire during the demonstration. Chairperson Aruna, who had been made to sit in Ambedkar Square throughout the experience, was saved by the police when they were summoned. Recently, a group of farmers in Atchampet, Andhra Pradesh, vandalised the agricultural market yard office. They were also seen in a video pushing the market chairman near groundnut heaps while she was still wearing her saree. The police were called to the scene and managed to rescue the agricultural market chairperson
