The first month of 2024 has come to an end, and the tollywood box office has done rather well. This January, the telugu box office grossed approximately Rs 500 crore, and here's a peek at the numbers. First, there's HanuMan, which has outperformed expectations by grossing well over Rs 250 crores at the film office. It is reputedly the highest-grossing Sankranthi film ever, which is quite an accomplishment. It is a smash hit in telugu, Hindi, and abroad box offices, with significant earnings for both local and international purchasers.
Then there's guntur Kaaram, which proved to be a disappointment. When the Mahesh-Trivikram combo was revealed for the Sankranthi release, new milestones were expected both domestically and internationally. However, the picture ultimately fell well short of expectations. However, the creators announced that the film had grossed more than Rs 200 crore. A better product from trivikram might have scripted a fantastic tale at the box office, but that was not to be.
Saindhav is a complete flop both domestically and internationally. It didn’t even report mention-worthy statistics domestically. venkatesh is a bankable Sankranthi hero, but Saindhav was not the type of film that would appeal to him during the Sankranthi season, when 'fun' is the winning genre. nagarjuna takes a break in Naa Saami Ranga. It generated considerable domestic revenue. Nag and the director's decent product capitalized on the Sankranthi edge. However, it vanished without a trace at the US box office.
HanuMan and GK contributed Rs 450 crore, while the remaining 50 crores came from the other two Sankranthi flicks, bringing the total to Rs 500 crore. This is a solid start in terms of statistics, laying the groundwork for a busy year ahead with releases such as Kalki, Devara, and pushpa 2.
