Maldive Government's 'Anti-India Stance'..!? Strong Opposition..!?
Two opposition parties have issued a joint statement on the "anti-India stance" of the Maldivian government. Expressing concern over the Maldivian government's "anti-India stance", the country's two main opposition parties, the Maldivian Democratic party (MDP) and the Democratic party declared india a "long-standing ally". Recently, the government of maldives granted permission to inspect a Chinese vessel in the country's port, following which the two parties issued a statement.
MPD leader and former minister Fayaz Ismail, Deputy Speaker of parliament M.P. ahmed Saleem, leader of the Democratic party M.P. Hasan Latif, and Parliamentary Committee Chairman M.P. Along with ali Azim, held a joint press conference on various governance-related issues. At that time, the two opposition parties, which have 55 seats in the 87-member assembly, promised to cooperate on the ruling party issue. Also expressed concern over foreign policy and transparency issues. It has been reported that mainly there is no transparency about the financial situation in the country and there is no clarity about any MoUs.
The maldives Tourism Union also strongly condemned the comments of the sacked ministers. However, this issue is still not isolated.
