A passenger aboard a SpiceJet aircraft from mumbai to Bengaluru was trapped inside a toilet for more than an hour on tuesday due to an alleged failure of the lavatory door lock.

After the seat belt indicator went off following takeoff from mumbai, the male passenger rushed to the lavatory but became locked inside. He had to wait till he landed in Bengaluru before technicians could unlock the door.

The airline released a statement expressing remorse for the situation and stating that the passenger received help during the voyage.

"On january 16, a passenger was stuck inside the lavatory for about an hour on a SpiceJet flight from mumbai to Bengaluru while the aircraft was airborne due to a door lock malfunction." "Throughout the journey, our crew assisted and guided the passenger," SpiceJet stated.

The staff handed the passenger a message encouraging him not to worry.

The note stated, "Sir, we did our utmost to unlock the door. Unfortunately, we were unable to open. Do not worry, we will arrive in a few minutes. So please close the commode lid and sit on it to secure yourself. As soon as the main door opens, the engineer will arrive. "Do not panic."
When the customer arrived at Bengaluru's Kempegowda international Airport, an engineer unlocked the lavatory door and immediately provided medical assistance, according to the airline.

"SpiceJet regrets and apologises for the inconvenience caused to the passenger," according to the statement.
