The shiv sena (UBT) has asked that Union minister Narayan Rane be dismissed from narendra Modi's cabinet for doubting Shankaracharyas' "contribution" to Hinduism. The uddhav Thacerkay-led party has demanded a formal apology from the bjp prior to the dedication (pran pratishtha) of the ram temple in ayodhya over Rane's remarks. On sunday, shiv sena (UBT) ally congress held a protest against Rane at the party's mumbai office.

Rane told reporters in Palghar on saturday that instead of opposing some features of the ram temple, the Shankaracharyas should bless it and accused them of viewing prime minister narendra Modi and the bjp through a "political prism". "Nobody could accomplish it till today. PM Modi and the bjp took it up, and a temple is being constructed. Should they bless or condemn the temple? It means the Shankaracharyas view PM Modi and the bjp through a political lens. This temple was established on religion, not politics. "Ram is our God," Rane explained.

"Shankaracharyas should tell what is their contribution to the Hindu religion," he went on to say.

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader uddhav thackeray remarked at a gathering on saturday night that the bjp should offer a public apology before the dedication of the ram temple for Rane's "derogatory" statements about the Shankaracharyas. He also asked the bjp to dismiss Rane from the party.

Shiv Sena (UBT) mp Sanjay Raut told reporters on sunday that Rane disrespected hinduism by doubting the contributions of the Shankaracharyas.
