Telangana Hyderabad - Food in hostel has insects - OU Students Protest
On Tuesday, a group of female osmania university students protested in front of the Ladies Hostel Complex in Amberpet, citing the poor quality of food given at the hostel. Visibly enraged, they sat with empty plates, asking that management take urgent action to rectify the problem. "The food served to us contains insects…be it rice or sambhar…it did not happen just once…we are served with bad food quality daily…how can one eat this," questioned a student while exhibiting a dish with rice and vegetable curry.
"Consider the quality of the meal. Will they feed the same stuff to their children?" the student inquired.
The female students said that their persistent complaints to authorities went unanswered. "They keep saying the same thing." Either they say "we will send a memo" or they promise us improved food quality. But there is no progress," the student stated.
The protesting students said that 10-20 of their dormitory mates had become ill with gastrointestinal problems. "We do not know about other hostels but the situation has been a constant here," they were quoted as saying.
India Herald contacted the protesting student, who stated, "No one from the management has come to hear us, let alone address our concerns."
