'Stop Promoting Maldives' - Indian Trade Body Urges
The indian Chamber of Commerce urged indian carriers operating in the maldives to stop operations and consider operating in Lakshadweep. The indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) asked all tourist and trade bodies in the nation on monday to cease marketing the maldives in the wake of certain Maldivian officials' anti-India statements. Subhash Goyal, head of the trade group, released a statement on behalf of the tourist associations, describing himself as a "patriotic indian working in the larger national interest."
"This is even though indians constitute a major source of foreign money and employment development in the Maldives. Please direct any such inquiries to the lakshadweep and andaman and Nicobar Islands, which are superior to the maldives in many aspects. Other indian Ocean locations that may be marketed include Sri Lanka, Mauritius, Bali, and Phuket," the ICC chairman stated.
Goyal also urged all indian airlines operating in the maldives to cease their operations and consider operating in the lakshadweep Islands under the Udaan Scheme. "I urge members of FHRAI and the Hotel Association of india to carefully consider investing in the lakshadweep islands since they would provide higher returns on investment in the future than the Maldives. "I've already asked STIC Travels to stop selling maldives," the statement stated.
