Telangana appoints first Additional AG from minority community
On december 31, 2023, Advocate Mohammed imran khan was named the third AAG since the state's creation. He is Telangana's first AAG from the minority group. Advocate Tera Rajnikanth reddy, who was appointed as the second AAG, is also the youngest person in the position. Khan earned his LLB from osmania university and became an attorney in 1988. His competence includes civil, matrimonial, cantonment, municipal, and writ laws.
"I am humbled to be the first Additional Advocate General from the Muslim community appointed since the formation of the State of andhra pradesh, as well as the first Designated Senior Advocate from my community in the State of Telangana." In all of my future undertakings, I will accomplish whatever task is assigned to me to the best of my abilities," he told Live Law.
Reddy, on the other hand, earned an LLB from Ullom college of Law in hyderabad and began practicing law in 2004. He focuses in writ, civil, and arbitration law and formerly served as secretary for the telangana Advocates Association.
Thanking the state government, reddy promised to lead the road for all first-generation advocates via hard effort and professional devotion. "I am grateful to uphold the dignity of the office and interest of the members and bar and bench," he went on to say.
This comes just after Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT) spokesperson Amjed Ullah Khan requested congress president mallikarjun Kharge to consider nominating a Muslim candidate to crucial legal posts in telangana, such as attorney general, assistant advocate general, or public prosecutor.
On december 18, the MBT spokesman wrote to Kharge, sonia gandhi, and rahul Gandhi, stating that there had been no Muslim representative in the judicial system throughout the former andhra pradesh and telangana since 1956.
