Telangana Elections 2023 - Congress crosses Halfway Mark, Solid Lead
The ruling party depended on welfare initiatives, such as the Rythu Bandhu and Rythu Bima programs for farmers, the Dalit and bc Bandhu schemes for the underprivileged classes, and the Gruha lakshmi project to provide houses to the poor, to combat anti-incumbency.
In the november 30 election, the state's turnout was 71.34%, two percentage points lower than in 2018. The trs was victorious in the 2018 elections, obtaining 88 seats. The congress came in second place with 19 seats, while the telugu desam party received only two. The All india Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) won seven seats, while the bjp only won one. The congress has surged ahead in telangana where votes are being counted today for the 119 assembly seats.
