Rescued Uttarkashi worker recalls moment tunnel collapsed
"When the debris fell, we knew that we were stuck," Verma told reporters.
"We had difficulty for the first 10-15 hours." However, a pipe was eventually installed to provide us with rice, dal, and dried fruits. Later, a microphone was connected, and I was able to communicate with my family members."
"I am happy now, and I will celebrate diwali now," the worker remarked.
The workers were taken to the hospital shortly after being rescued and are being monitored before being returned home.
Later, uttarakhand Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stated that none of the 41 workers rescued from a road tunnel under construction in Uttarkashi district were in serious condition. The worker told news agency ANI that he and the other stranded people were given food inside the tunnel.
