'To be honest, you have failed' - Suella Braverman's letter to ‘weak’ Rishi Sunak

Suella Braverman, the former UK home secretary, submitted a scathing resignation letter after being fired by british prime minister Rishi Sunak yesterday. In the post, Suella Braverman expressed pride in her record, writing, "Despite you having been rejected by a majority of party members during the summer leadership contest and thus having no personal mandate to be prime minister, I agreed to support you because of the firm assurances you gave me on key policy priorities."

These goals were limiting illegal migration, preventing small boats from crossing the channel, providing the Northern ireland Protocol and Retaining EU law laws as they were a year ago, and releasing legislative guidelines to safeguard biological sex. However, "you have manifestly and repeatedly failed to deliver on every single one of these key policies," she wrote, saying that this was a "betrayal of our agreement" as well as a "betrayal of your promise to the nation that you would do 'whatever it takes' to stop the boats".

"Someone needs to be honest: your plan is not working, we have endured record election defeats, your resets have failed and we are running out of time," she said in a statement.

Recognizing that she "may not have always found the right words" to communicate her thoughts, she has "always strived to give voice to the quiet majority that supported us in 2019."

She went on to say, "I will, of course, continue to support the government in pursuit of policies which data-align with an authentic conservative agenda."

Earlier, Rishi Sunak addressed a weekly meeting, promising to "drive change" only a day after replacing former prime minister David cameron as Foreign Secretary.

"Our goal is nothing less than to make long-term decisions that will change our country for the better." "I am confident that this strong and united team will bring about change for everyone," Rishi Sunak stated in his inaugural remarks to the new Cabinet.
